Birch - Silver (Betula Pendula) Bonsai Tree Type (Outdoors) BIRCH - SILVER (BETULA PENDULA) -

HARDY>HARDY DECIDUOUSTREE>DECIDUOUS TREE shiny, silver coloured trunk and MEdium sized "inverted teardrop SHAPEd LEAVES with slightly serrated edges.

Prevalent in many areas of Scotland and sometimes referred to as "Scotland's Weed Tree" as it is a pioneering SPECIES in poor quality soil and will establish itself before other trees.

STYLE : Suitable for most styles except literati but particularly good for tray landscape (SAIKEI) styles.

BIRCH - SILVER (BETULA PENDULA) -

REPOT : Every 2 years while young, and less frequently when older, in early spring just prior to BUD>BUD burst.

SOIL : Ideally Akadama or 40:60 GRIT:organic.

PRUNE : Late winter for main or CROSSing branches.

PINCH : Trim new SHOOTS constantly throughout sumMEr, to one or two LEAVES.

SOIL : Free draining soil such as Akadama.

WATER : DAI>DAIly throughout growing season but infrequently during winter months.

FEED : Start BALANCED FEED one month after bud burst thenevery two weeks during spring/summer.
